Blockchain Technology Transforms Medical Tourism

As healthcare becomes more patient-centric, the demand for the best and quality healthcare is at an all-time high. And this has inspired the industry stakeholders to make huge investments in blockchain technology. This newest technology has proved to work well with files and records. According to the International Medical Travel Journal, Robomed Network, a global digital platform has introduced a solution that allows the medical industry to replace the old way of managing healthcare processes with new ones. Its designed to boost efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency. “What drives all of this is a medical network managed by a blockchain token, designed to provide the most effective medical care. Robomed serves as the linkage point between health service providers and patients, all tied to a smart contract built on top of the Ethereum platform.”

What is Blockchain?
Experts describe blockchain as a decentralized digital ledger which is made up of chronologically arranged immutable, distributive data between connected devices in a blockchain system. It is an unchangeable record of peer-to-peer transactions built from blocks. According to Blockgeeks blockchain is an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value. “Information held on a blockchain exists as a shared and continually reconciled database.”

Philipp Mironovich, the co-founder of Robomed Network says the Robomed’s blockchain is designed to expand available capacity for record-keeping constantly, transactions tracking and accumulation of a diverse database of medical knowledge and clinical pathways applied to treat a numerous range of medical cases. “We believe that the scope of medical services rendered to patients is bound to grow with the processes for obtaining these services streamlined.”

Easy Accessibility to Patient Health Records
Experts say blockchain technology offers solutions to medical tourism and the health industry as a whole. It makes a patient’s health data easily accessible. Healthcare providers agree that lack of access to a patient’s health record slows down the care process to leads to healthcare mishaps and also negatively affects the healthcare provider’s reputation. According to Medical Tourism Magazine with a blockchain, a patient’s health data are made accessible to providers to whom the patient grants authorization. “This ensures a free-flow of health information between the local and international healthcare providers.” Moreover, through blockchain, patients can access their health history and records through the decentralized record system. “Healthcare providers can share details concerning a patient to maintain the continuum of care; patients can make smart contracts, allowing them to access quality healthcare providers around the world.”

Furthermore, blockchain technology can help reduce the incidence of errors and fraud in clinical trial records. It can provide verifiable records of clinical trials and results. An essential feature of blockchain technology in healthcare is that it gives the patient more control over their medical information since they will own and control it according to Blockchain. WTF users can even make money by selling medical information to research companies, instead of companies getting access without the patient’s consent.

Overall, blockchain technology is still being explored. And this is just the initial stage. With more research, innovation will definitely set in and so will interests. Blockchain technology has so far proved to have enhanced the health industry.
